EFCC Investigates Former Bauchi State Governor Isa Yuguda

The former governor's multi-million naira mansion was visited by men of the anti-graft agency on Friday.

The private residence of the former governor of Bauchi State Mallam Isa Yuguda is being investigated by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

A statement issued Saturday by the Special Assistant to the Bauchi State governor on Communications, Shamsuddeen Lukman Abubakar, stated that multi-million naira mansion belonging to the former governor situated at Sir Kashim Ibrahim Street, GRA Bauchi, was visited by men of the anti-graft agency on Friday.

The statement added that the agency allegedly placed the house under investigation.

"This new development might not be unconnected with the series of complaints and petitions filed against the former governor by the current Bauchi State government under Governor Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar to the EFCC," he said.

However, one of the close associates of the former governor who spoke to our reporter on telephone on condition of anonymity confirmed the incidence.

He, however, denied reports that the house was sealed by the EFCC.

He said that if the house was sealed, occupants of the residence would have been evacuated but they were still in the house.

He, however, confirmed that the house is under investigation by the EFCC.

A call placed to Yuguda’s former commissioner for information, Alhaji Salisu Barau did not go through.
