The Chairman of Anka Local Government Area, Mr. Mustapha Gado Anka, confirmed the incident, saying his administration, in collaboration with security agencies, is making efforts to ensure that Mr. Wuya is released unhurt.

A group of yet to be identified gunmen, suspected to be cattle rustlers, have abducted the Vice Chairman of Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Mr. Yahuza Ibrahim Wuya. The abduction took place on Tuesday evening, while Wuya on his way to his village.

The Chairman of Anka Local Government Area, Mr. Mustapha Gado Anka, confirmed the incident, saying his administration, in collaboration with security agencies, is making efforts to ensure that Mr. Wuya is released unhurt.

The Chairman added that the kidnappers made a demand of N5 million as ransom.

Mr. Anka urged security agencies in the state, particularly the Police, Directorate of State Security and the Army to intensify their efforts in relation to the security challenges being experienced in some parts of the state, particularly Anka, Bukkuyum, Gummi and Maru local councils, which he said are where most armed bandits have their hideout.

Abductions have recently become rampant in Zamfara State. Last week, over 15 persons, including the Project Manager of Bakolori Irrigation Scheme, Mr. Lawal Muhammad Maidoko, were abducted by gunmen.  Efforts to reach the state Police Command Public Relations Officer, Mr. Shehu Muhammad, proved abortive.
