Mrs. Agbahime, an Imo State native, was murdered by an angry mob for allegedly blaspheming the Prophet Muhammed while tending to her market in Kano State. She was 74 years old.
Five suspects alleged to have killed Bridget Agbahime, a trader, in June 2016 were cleared of all charges by a Kano State Magistrate Court on Thursday.
The suspects – Dauda Admed, Abdulmumeen Mustafa, Zubairu Abubakar, Abdullahi Abubakar, and Musa Abdullahi – had been charged with culpable homicide, inciting disturbance, joint act, and mischief.

Chief Magistrate Muhammad Jibril discharged the suspects as advised by the State attorney general.
Principal State Counsel Rabiu Yusuf, who represented the attorney general, said he determined that the suspects were innocent after reviewing the police’s case diary on the murder.
“Having gone through the case diary, the attorney general of Kano State evaluated the facts in accordance Sections 130 and 150 of the Criminal Procedure Code and presented the legal advice,” Mr. Yusuf said.
“The legal advice presented to the court, dated June 24, states that there is no case to answer, as the suspects are all innocent, and orders the court to discharge all suspects.”
The defendants’ counsel, Abdulsalam Gambo, applauded the attorney general for the judgment.
