Nigerian Troops Avert Boko Haram’s Infiltration Into Brimari, Kill Two Insurgents

A press statement signed by military spokesman, Colonel Sani Usman, disclosed that the soldiers were on a fighting patrol along Monguno-Brimari Road when they encountered the Islamist insurgents.

Nigerian soldiers belonging to the 8 Task Force Division of the Nigerian Army today intercepted a group of Boko Haram insurgents who were reportedly on a mission to loot logistics supplies from Brimari town and other surrounding communities in Borno State.

A press statement signed by military spokesman, Colonel Sani Usman, disclosed that the soldiers were on a fighting patrol along Monguno-Brimari Road when they encountered the Islamist insurgents. 

Colonel Usman revealed that the insurgents engaged the troops in a shootout that lasted for about fifteen minutes before the troops’ superior firepower overwhelmed the Boko Haram fighters. He added that two of the insurgents were killed, and that troops seized the insurgents’ weapons including one FN rifle, one AK-47 rifle with three magazines. The troops also recovered two motorcycles, drugs, wrappers and clothes from the insurgents.
