Troops of the 7th Division of the Nigerian Army rescued 85 hostages and cleared out terrorists in the town of Chukungudu near the Lake Chad region on Friday and Saturday. The mission was part of the ongoing Operation LAFIYA DOLE and was led by Brigadier-General Victor Ezugwu.
According to a military press release issued on Sunday morning, the troops also cleared terrorists, suspected to be Boko Haram militants, out of the towns of Geram and Bulankassa. Five militants were killed in the operation while one Nigerian troop was killed.
