Maiduguri: 2 Female Suicide Bombers Killed In Checkpoint Attack

Two female suicide bombers were, on Sunday night, killed in Maiduguri, when they attempted to suicide attack a checkpoint in the city. Three bystanders were wounded in the attack.

This was disclosed in Whatsapp message sent by the Police Public Relations Officer, Borno Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police, (DSP) Victor Isuku.

"About 2030hrs yesterday, two female suicide bombers were halted to stop for a routine check at Geleri village, which is about 5km to Muna Garage on the outskirts of Maiduguri.

"One of the suicide bombers detonated an IED strapped to her body, killing her and her accomplice, whose IED vest did not explode. Three residents of the area were however injured, the command's EOD unit rushed to the scene to render the unexploded IED safe," wrote DSP Isuku.
