The press secretary, however, did not disclose further details of the call.

At a press briefing held on Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer confirmed that President Donald Trump spoke to President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday.

While the State House in Abuja confirmed the call on Monday, its Washington counterpart did not reciprocate with a similar statement until Tuesday.

“In addition to his in-person meetings with the prime ministers of Japan and Canada, the President also recently had phone calls with the presidents of Tunisia, Peru, Nigeria, Colombia and South Africa,” Mr. Spicer stated to reporters.

The press secretary, however, did not disclose further details of the call.

Mr. Buhari spoke to the U.S. president over the phone from his current residence in London, where he is receiving medical treatment.
