Armed robbers attacked a Skye Bank branch in Ogbagi Akoko, Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State on Tuesday.

A source who confirmed the attack to our correspondent in Akure said the robbers stormed the bank at about 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.

The source, who pleaded anonymity and spoke under duress, disclosed that the hoodlums shot sporadically into the air to scare customers and residents away before carrying out the robbery.

He also confirmed that the gunmen killed three persons, including security officers, and wounded scores of innocent people.

The source added that the robbers forced all customers in the bank to lay flat on the floor inside the bank hall before ransacking the vaults and forcefully collecting their money.

“The armed robbers killed the security officers attached to Skye Bank because they refused to cooperate with them during the operation,” the source disclosed. “They even slapped a local woman who acted stubborn to them and ransacked all the banking vaults where money was kept before running away.”

The source also added that the identities of the victims could not be immediately ascertained.

Another source revealed that the armed robbers promptly loaded the stolen cash into their vehicles and drove away.

“I am still getting details of the event and I will get back to you,” he said.
