Body Recovered From Lagos Lagoon Not Doctor Orji

Barely 24 hours after rescuers in Lagos relaxed their active search for a medical doctor who allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the Lagos Lagoon, marine police on Tuesday recovered a body floating in the lagoon.

Barely 24 hours after rescuers in Lagos relaxed their active search for a medical doctor who allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the Lagos Lagoon, marine police on Tuesday recovered a body floating in the lagoon.

A careful examination of the body, however, revealed that it was not Allwell Orji, the doctor who plunged into the lagoon from the Third Mainland Bridge on Sunday evening.

The recovered body, whose identity has not yet been revealed, was found at about noon on Tuesday.

Editor's note: An earlier version of Monday's article on the alleged suicide, linked above, included a picture of a doctor who was said to be Dr. Orji. It was later revealed to SaharaReporters that the picture was not Dr. Orji. SaharaReporters apologizes for the confusion.
