A group of voters in the Kaduna North Senatorial District has begun a process to recall Mr. Sulaimon Hunkuyi, who represents them in the Senate.

The voters, under the umbrella of the Concerned Citizens of Northern Kaduna Senatorial District, have petitioned the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman to request that a referendum be conducted to recall Mr. Hunkuyi. The voters explained that they have lost confidence in the representation being provided by Mr. Hunkuyi.

"Pursuant to Section 69 of the 1999 Constitution as amended, which allows the recall of a serving senator or member of the House of Representatives, we undersigned registered voters of Kaduna North Senatorial District hereby forward our petition against our senator due to the loss of confidence in his ability to represent us at the National Assembly.

In view of the aforementioned, we humbly request for the conduct of a referendum to recall him from the National Assembly," the voters said in the petition.
