Mr. Akinruntan, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) until his defection, announced his new party shortly after a meeting at the governor's office in Akure, the state capital.

SaharaReporters learned that the lawmaker was received by the Secretary to the State Government, Ifedayo Abegunde, at the Coca conference hall of the governor's office.

Mr. Akinruntan was elected a lawmaker of the State House of Assembly in the controversial April 15, 2015 parliamentary poll.
