Boko Haram Detainees Die In Military Camp

A source told SaharaReporters on Tuesday that dead bodies of the Islamist fighters were sighted being taken to the Specialist Hospital in the Borno State on Monday, three days after the military released about 600 cleared suspects, most of whom were children, to the Borno State government.

SaharaReporters can exclusively reveal that scores of Boko Haram members detained at the military facility in Maiduguri, Borno State have lost their lives.

A source told SaharaReporters on Tuesday that dead bodies of the Islamist fighters were sighted being taken to the Specialist Hospital in the Borno State on Monday, three days after the military released about 600 cleared suspects, most of whom were children, to the Borno State government.

"By Tuesday, the dead bodies brought to the hospital were about 75 in total," the source said.

"They brought in the bodies three times on Tuesday and there were serious concerns that the deaths resulted from poor and overstretched facilities at the military camp."

A security source confirmed the situation but said the casualty figure was lower, although he declined to give the accurate figure.

A female worker at the specialist, however, declined to comment, saying "we have been warned not to speak to journalists."

The military authorities had yet to issue a statement at the time of going to press.
