Dear sir: The vituperative outburst attributed to Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara state in reply to a statement by Emir Sanusi of Kano regarding the Governor’s lackadaisical response to the current outbreak of Meningitis in Zamfara is both sad and deeply shocking.
Most regrettably, instead of facing the real issues, the Governor appears to have chosen to engage in a vicious ad-hominem attack on the Emir.
However, in so far as the Governor has not denied ascribing the spread of meningitis in his state to God’s anger against the people of the state as punishment for their sins, it is futile for him to seek to divert attention from the issue in hand by claiming that Emir Sanusi wishes to ride in a Rolls Royce limousine.
WHAT HAS THAT GOT TO DO WITH THE NEED TO PROVIDE VACCINES TO PROTECT THE PEOPLE OF ZAMFARA FROM MENINGITIS?
Rather than wasting time engaging in mendacious media attacks, Governor Yari would do well to concentrate his energy on what he has been elected to do, which is to cater for the needs of the people of Zamfara State.
Above all else, the Zamfara state Governor would be well advised to heed the advice he is reported to have received from the Federal Minister of Health regarding the need to strengthen the Primary Health Care system in his state.
No need for futile polemics!
