37 Killed In Kaduna Clash Between Farmers, Herdsmen

According to the report, the conflict began when a suspected herdsman was killed in Banono village on Sunday, allegedly because he had been harassing members of the community.

No fewer than 37 people were killed in a violent clash between farmers and herdsmen in Kajuru local government area in Kaduna State, TheCable reported on Tuesday.

According to the report, the conflict began when a suspected herdsman was killed in Banono village on Sunday, allegedly because he had been harassing members of the community.

Angered by the herdsman’s death, youths from his community attacked five youths from Kadara who they believed were responsible for his murder.

Youths from Kadara allegedly launched a retaliatory attack on Monday, leaving 12 people dead.

Security agents were then dispatched to the affected areas, temporarily restoring peace. But shortly after leaving, Kadara youths attacked neighboring villagers once again, killing 10.

A witness told TheCable that while the bodies were buried in a mass grave, news broke that nine more corpses were discovered in the bush.

Kaduna State police spokesman Yakubu Sabo confirmed the incident to TheCable, but did not confirm the number of casualties.
