Four Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) were, on Sunday night, killed when two male suicide bombers detonated explosives strapped to their bodies at Dalori 2 IDP camp in Maiduguri. The explosion also claimed the lives of the suicide bombers and left 15 others injured.

The injured victims, SaharaReporters learned, were taken to a specialist hospital in Maiduguri for treatment.

According to Borno State Police Commissioner, Mr. Damian Chukwu, the attack occurred at about 11.15pm when the bombers attempted gaining access into Dalori 2 IDP camp through the rear fence.

Mr. Chukwu said they were sighted and chased by security personnel on duty, forcing the terrorists to detonate the explosive devices on them. He was, however, silent on the scale of the casualty from the attack.

But the Police Commissioner added that he visited the scene visited with members of the Explosive Ordinance Department to sanitize and make it safe.   He equally disclosed that security vigilance has been beefed up in the area.
