The Inspector General of Police Special Tactical Squad(STS) in Kano on Sunday intercepted an armed robbers’ blockade between Lamba and Dansiri Villages in Bichi Local Government Area on the Kano to Katsina Road, killing three suspects.  

Weapons seized from Kano State robbers Spokesman of the police in Kano, DSP Magaji Musa Majia, told reporters on Monday the action followed complaints received by the Command from traders, nearby villagers and other road users on the activities of robbers most especially on Sundays, which is a weekly market day in Chiranchi Market, Katsina State.  

He said the state Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Yusuf,directed the STS and Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) to mobilize to the area and deploy variousmechanisms at their disposal to arrest the suspects and save the situation.

According to him, upon sighting the police teams on the fateful day, the robbers opened fire, resulting in a shootout of almost 15 minutes in which three suspectrobbers were fatally wounded. They were confirmed dead by a doctor at the hospital.   Police with seized weapons

The police, who suffered no casualties, recovered two AK47 rifles, one locally-made pistol, two AK 47 rifle magazines, 47 rounds of live ammunition, three cartridges and one cutlass.

Commissioner of Police Yusuf called on the members of the public to continue supporting his command by giving timely information about all suspicious persons, motor vehicles, homes and warehouses.
