Aviation Minister Redeploys 'Powerful' Human Resources Manager At FAAN, Engages 55 Workers

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) last weekend experienced a mini shake-up as the Minister of State for Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika redeployed, engaged and employed no fewer than 55 staff in the agency.

The most prominent name on the list is Hajiya Salamatu Umar-Eluma who was significantly demoted having been moved from her plum post as the Director, Human Resources, FAAN to Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) in the same capacity.

Umar-Eluma has been having a running battle with the Managing Director of FAAN, Engr. Saleh Dunoma in the past two years, while attempt to post her out of the agency in the past, had met a brick wall.

Earlier in the year, attempts to move Umar-Eluma to the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) failed. There are reports that Umar-Eluma is a close ally of Mrs. Aisha Buhari and also has her eyes in the Managing Director’s position in FAAN.

A document made available to Sahara Reporters with the reference number: MCA/0146/S.22/Vol.T/91, dated 18th August 2017, addressed to the Managing Director of FAAN, convened the redeployment of Umar-Eluma and appointment of two others.

Other two on the list with Umar-Eluma are Mallam Kabir A.N. Mohammed who was appointed as General Manager, Accounts while Mr. Anozie Norris was engaged as the Director, Human Resources of FAAN. The position previously held by Umar-Eluma.
