How Abba Kyari Defied President Buhari’s Order To Reinstate Sacked Niger Delta Holding Company General Manager Who Exposed Corruption

Sources told SaharaReporters that Mrs. Mohammed, who worked for 24 years with the defunct National Electric Power Authority (NEPA), conducted a company-wide staff audit during which it was discovered that among other staff, Mr. Louis Edozien (Executive Director, Technical Services), Mr. Anthony U. Muoneke (Executive Director, Finance and Administration), and the General Manager (Contract Management) all presented fake National Youth Service Corps discharge certificates.

Mr. Abba Kyari, President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, SaharaReporters has exclusively gathered, ignored the President’s order to reinstate Mrs. Maryam Danna Mohammed, former General Manager (Auditing and Compliance) at the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC). The woman’s sack had been ordered by Mr. Kyari, who was angry at her for exposing corruption in the organization.

This resulted in a major scandal, which consumed all those affected, as they had to resign. Unfortunately for Mrs. Mohammed, sources disclosed, Mr. Edozien is a friend and business partner to Mr. Kyari. The Chief of Staff's daughter also worked directly under Mr. Edozien.

The forced resignation of Mr. Edozien was a slight Mr. Kyari was unwilling to leave unpunished. On 10 June 2016, Mrs. Mohammed received a letter from Mr. Babachir David Lawal, the disgraced Secretary to the Government of the Federation, stating that she had been relieved of her duties with immediate effect. The letter, stated sources, did not give reasons for her sack or mention her offenses. It simply claimed that the disengagement was authorized by President Buhari.

Eleven days after the receipt of the letter, a dissatisfied Mrs. Mohammed wrote to the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, saying that there was no correspondence from the Presidency prior to her sack.  She equally stated that there she was not made to face any committee set up to investigate any wrongdoing on her part. She confidently stated that she had never done any wrong in the course of her duties.

Two weeks after writing, she got no response from the Vice President’s office. As a result, she decided to write a comprehensive letter to President Muhammadu Buhari.

On 25 October 2016, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN), wrote to Mr. Kyari to convey the President’s decision, reached at a meeting, to have Mrs. Mohammed reinstated.

Mr. Kyari ignored Mr. Malami. On 19 December 2016, Mrs. Mohammed decided to write the President another letter to remind him of her unlawful dismissal from NDPHC. Till date, however, she has not received any response to her letter and remains unlawfully dismissed despite the intervention of the President.

Sources said Mr. Kyari is way more powerful than the Attorney-General, Vice President and could overrule the President.
