Ondo: Suspected Armed Robber Who Attacked Skye Bank Nabbed In Edo State

One of the armed robbers that attacked the Skye Bank branch at Ifon in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo state has been nabbed, Sahara Reporters has learned.

One of the armed robbers that attacked the Skye Bank branch at Ifon in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo state has been nabbed, Sahara Reporters has learned.

The bandit was caught and handed over to detectives at a local village known as Uzebba in Owan West Local Government Area of Edo state on Friday afternoon. 

Yesterday, the armed robbers numbering about twenty had attacked the Skye Bank local branch in Ifon forcing their way in by using dynamites to blow off the door.

The robbers also killed three policemen on duty and carted away a huge sum of an unspecified amount of money deposited in the bank vaults.

Sahara Reporters had exclusively got the names of the deceased policemen as: Adeniyi Jimoh, Alex Sampson, and Daramola Oluwole.

Mr. Gbenga Adeyanju, the Commissioner of Police in the state had already paid condolence visits to the families of the trio.

Adeyanju during the visits promised that the force would ensure the families of the three policemen are well catered for.

"Let me assure that the police would do everything in its capacity to take good care of the families of the deceased".

Femi Joseph, Police Spokesman in the state had confirmed the arrest in a terse forwarded to some journalists and also obtained by our correspondent in Akure.

Mr. Joseph said the suspect was nabbed where he had gone to treat the wounds he sustained on his leg following a gun duel with the policemen in operation.

"We have been able to arrest of one the person suspected to be among those who perpetrated yesterday's robbery."

"He was arrested at a village in Edo state where he had gone to treat the wound on his leg which he sustained through a gun duel with our officers."

"Currently, he is now in our custody and is helping detectives on how others can be arrested through investigation".

While speaking further on the telephone, the police spokesman also told Sahara Reporters that the name of the arrested bandit was being "deliberately protected" to avoid disclosing the tactic in the ongoing investigation.

He said the detectives from the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) are still on the trail of other gang members of the group who currently at large.
