EFCC Invites Ambassador Oke, Others For Questioning Over $43.4m Cash

November 1, 2017

According to the EFCC, the former NIA Director General’s wife had refused past invitations for questioning over the matter.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited the former Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ayodele Oke, and his wife, Folashade Oke, for interrogation over the $43.4 million cash discovered in an apartment in Ikoyi, Lagos in April 2017.

The anti-graft agency announced this after resuming its investigation into the scandal on Wednesday.

President Muhammadu Buhari sacked Mr. Oke on Monday.

According to the EFCC, the former NIA Director General’s wife had refused past invitations for questioning over the matter.

The EFCC also announced that other suspects have similarly been invited for questioning.

It would be recalled that the EFCC discovered $43.4m in cash hidden in a luxury apartment in Ikoyi, Lagos in April following a tip-off from a whistleblower.

Mr. Oke claimed that the money had belonged to his agency.
