Anambra State Police Command officers arrested suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) at a printing press in Onitsha on Thursday.

The officers raided the printing press at about 11:00 a.m. following an intelligence report.

According to a police press release published on Thursday, thousands of IPOB pamphlets were recovered in the operation. The command said that IPOB had planned to distribute its literature in order to “cause apprehension” and prevent citizens from voting in the Anambra State governorship election slated for November 18.

The suspects arrested were identified as Udeagha Ebube Chukwu, 27, and Elochukwu Okoloji, 37.

The police urged the public to ignore IPOB propaganda and assured residents of Anambra State that the command would provide a safe environment for the conduct of the upcoming election.
