NSCDC Intercept 200 Bags Of Sorghum Means For IDP

The Borno State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has intercepted two hundred bags of sorghum meant for Internally Displaced Persons in Monguno Local Government Area.

State Commandant, Ibrahim Abdullahi made this known while the parading the suspects in Maiduguri on Thursday.

Abdullahi said the food items were meant for breastfeeding mothers in camps but were diverted to private warehouses in Maiduguri. 

"You can see the level of humanity to man where we seized 200 bags of sorghum meant for IDP were re-bagged in private in a home in Monguno town, these foods were especially for nursing mothers but its way out of the camp."

He explained that the suspects would soon be charged to court.

Ibrahim Abdullahi also paraded three suspected humanitarian workers who succeeded in defrauding some IDPs in Maiduguri the sum of three hundred thousand naira through the selling of food voucher cards.

He said the command had recovered twenty-four thousand naira from the suspects. 

"We also have in our custody a group of three young men who normally impersonate into IDP camp to sell vouchers to defraud innocent people at a rate of 1000 to 2000. Here are the forms they used to give them, so far out of 300,000 they rake we were able to get only 24,000 from them," said Abdullahi.

Saharareporter gathered that twenty suspects were paraded for committing various offences which include water heater vandals, handset snatchers, and a syndicate who specialize in stealing PVC pipes customized for Borno State government.
