Kogi Offers N5m Reward For Information On Killers

Kogi government has offered a reward of N5 million for information that can lead to the culprits behind recent killings in some communities across the state. It will be recalled that scores of people have been killed by gunmen suspected to be herdsmen in Ojuwo Ajamàgbe and Agbenema in Dekina and Omala Local government areas of the State.

Director General, media, and publicity to the governor of Kogi State, Kingsley Fanwo who announced the offer in a statement said the government is immensely saddened by the fresh attack on Agbenema, another community in Omala Local Government Area by mercenaries suspected to be working for herdsmen in the area yesterday.

He, however, noted that contrary to reports in the media, only three persons, including Chief Musa Edibo, the Onu of Agbenema were killed by the gunmen while those injured are responding to treatment.

“On a happier note and contrary to trending reports by all sections of the media, the wife of the murdered traditional chief was neither injured nor killed. Though advanced in age and battling age-related ailments, she interacted extensively with our officials who paid a condolence visit to the community today,” said Fanwo who added that intelligence reports indicated that the attackers at Agbenema on the afternoon of Monday, 19th March 2018 appear to be the same group which attacked Ojuwo Ajamàgbe, near Oganenigu in Dekina Local Government Area 5 days earlier.

“Kogi State Government and the security services are sparing neither expense nor effort to track down these murderers and ensure justice is served,” he added.
