Nigeria's Oil And Gas Pipeline Network To Undergo Integrity Test

Ahead of an expected partnership with the private sector in the operation of government-owned oil and gas infrastructure, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC’s subsidiary, Nigerian Pipeline, and Storage Company (NPSC), has planned an audit of the over 5,000 km of pipelines under its control.

According to Luke Anele, the Managing Director of the company, the project has been approved by the NNPC management. The integrity test will be executed by the National Engineering and Technical Company (NETCO), an upstream subsidiary of the NNPC Group.

“It covers the conduct of integrity tests on crude pipelines, the products pipelines, and our depots, with special emphasis on refinery attached depots and refinery evacuation lines.”

Experts say aging and corrosion of the pipelines over the years have made 51% of them susceptible to easy vandalization.
