The All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended its immediate past National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, for his efforts, which it said contributed to the party “ousting the failed PDP 16 years' reign in Nigeria.”
Congratulating him on the occasion of his 79th birthday, a message by Yekini Nabena, Acting National Publicity Secretary of the APC, lauded Odigie-Oyegun on his “general conduct and progressive and patriotic devotion to duty,” which he said gave the celebrant the “deservedly earned the title of an elder statesman.”
The statement read: “Our great Party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) felicitates with our immediate-past National Chairman, H.E. Chief John Odigie-Oyegun on his 79th birthday.
“A man of many positive firsts, he distinguished himself during his work in the Civil Service where he rose to become one of the country’s youngest permanent secretaries; served as first-elected governor of Edo State and played a major role in ousting the military junta as one of the pro-democracy activists.
“As the first-elected APC National Chairman, he led the party to victory, ousting the failed PDP 16 years reign in Nigeria.
“Chief Odigie-Oyegun in his general conduct, progressive and patriotic devotion to duty, has deservedly earned the title of an elder statesman.”
The APC also prayed for “a long, continuously rewarding and healthy life” for him, as he continues his contribution to the party and national development.
