The All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared the winner of Saturday’s Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency by-election.

Returning Officer, Professor Rotimi Ajayi, announced the result in Lokoja on Sunday morning, where he declared the APC candidate, Haruna Isah, as the winner of the election.

While the APC polled 26,860 votes, its closest rival, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), scored 14,845 votes. The African Democratic Congress came a long way to clinch the third position with 2,984 votes, while the Social Democratic Party (SDP) came fourth with 2,916 votes.

According to reports, the election was fraught with violence, ballot snatching, voter intimidation, and vote buying, just as two party agents were also shot and subsequently hospitalised.
