JUST IN: APC Mauls PDP To Win By-Election In Buhari’s Senatorial District

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Ahmad polled a massive 224,607 votes while his brother had relatively paltry 59,724 votes.

Ahmad Babba-Kaita, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has defeated his brother, Kabir Babba-Kaita, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to win the Katsina North senatorial by-election held on Saturday.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Ahmad polled a massive 224,607 votes while his brother had relatively paltry 59,724 votes.

Therefore, Hudu Abdullahi, the Returning Officer, declared him victorious on Sunday morning “having satisfied the requirement of the law and scored the highest number of votes”.

The seat of Katsina North, the senatorial district of President Muhammadu Buhari, at the National Assembly became vacant following the death of Senator Mustapha Bukar in April.

Ahmad, the senator-elect, is a member of the House of Representatives.

He was first elected to the lower chamber in 2011 on the ticket of Buhari’s former party, the Congress for Progressive Chance (CPC).
