FUTA Undergraduate DJ Breaks Guinness World Record For Longest DJ'ing

According to Guinness World Records, the current holder of the longest marathon club DJ-ing is Norbert Selmaj, aka Norberto Loco, from Poland, who played for 200 hours.

DJ Venum, a Nigerian Disc Jockey, has broken the Guinness World Record for the longest DJ'ing, playing music non-stop for 15 days.

The superstar DJ, Agboola Venmak, started DJ'ing at exactly 10:40 pm on August 1, 2018, launching his quest of breaking the world record as the longest-playing DJ.

According to Guinness World Records, the current holder of the longest marathon club DJ'ing is Norbert Selmaj, also known as Norberto Loco, from Poland, who played for 200 hours.

Norberto Loco achieved the feat in The Underground Temple bar in Dublin, Ireland from November 19 to 27, 2014. 

Venmak, who hails from Ondo State, is an undergraduate student of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) in the state.

In December 2016, after the publicity that followed the attempt by one DJ Obi to break the world record for longest playing DJ, DJ Venum took up a personal challenge to break the record and set a new one.

With multiple years of consultations and research over the past three years, DJ Venum also took a project for positive societal influence, via a yearly book donation campaign to rural Nigerian school children, supported by members of the public on same August 1, 2018.

DJ Venum is currently mixing on the turntable at O2 Base lounge and Bar at the Akure Shopping Mall, as his activities have transformed the venue to a Mecca of sorts, as notable personalities within and outside the music industry have visited to show him support.

He broke the world record by mixing non-stop music for 15 days, reeling out jams, which included hip-hop and pop-musicals.

Speaking to SaharaReporters, the DJ said aside mixing the tapes to entertain music lovers, he also put up a project aimed towards donating books to both primary and secondary school schools.

He noted that the idea was to help support underprivileged children in various rural communities with one million books, which would also help promote education.

DJ Venum became the World's Longest Playing DJ on August 15, 2018, and has vowed not to stop until he achieves his other aim of donating one million books to Nigerian students.
