The Rivers State Government has told Bola Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), that he cannot rely on “rumour” as the basis of his criticism of Governor Nyesom Wike.

Tinubu, in a statement on Sunday, accused the Rivers State Governor of having a hand in the defection of Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, from the APC to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on the promise of securing the party's presidential ticket.

Responding to Tinubu's statement, Emma Okah, Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, on Monday, said: “Governor Wike has not discussed the political ambition of Governor Tambuwal with Senator Tinubu, and so Senator Tinubu cannot rely on mere rumour to speak unfairly about the governor in the way he did."

According to a statement by Okah, Tambuwal is a mature adult, capable of making decisions for himself.
