Ayodele Fayose, Governor of Ekiti State, has tasked the Federal Government to tell Nigerians the truth on the "technical defeat" of the terrorist group, Boko Haram.

According to theGovernor, the news on Boko Haram attacking military bases is "disturbing".

Insurgents had invaded Gudumbali in Guzamala Local Government Area, in Borno, last Friday, and the attack led to the death of dozens of soldiers. See Also Exclusive ‘We’re Here For Our Territory’ — How Boko Haram ‘Killed Many Civilians, Soldiers’ While Recapturing Gudumbali

The Army refuted the reports, insisting that the insurgents attacked civilians.

The Friday attack, which is not the first in recent times, also comes years after President Muhammadu Buhari told the BBC that his administration had "technically" won the war against Boko Haram.

However, Fayose took up Buhari on the 'technical-defeat' claim, stating that the Federal Government "must tell Nigerians the truth".

A tweet via his handle read: "News on Boko Haram killing our soldiers is disturbing. May God protect these men who are risking their lives to defend our country. Most importantly, FG must tell Nigerians the truth on this 'technically defeated' Boko Haram still overrunning military base and killing soldiers."
