Four people have been kidnapped along Birnin Gwari road in Kaduna while on their way to a function in the area.
The incident took place on Thursday when the victims going to attend a courtesy visit by the wife of Kaduna State Governor, Hadiza el-Rufai, to Birnin Gwari. It was gathered that the Chairman of the Local Government Area invited all women to the event.
According to a family source who spoke to SaharaReporters via telephone, the armed bandits seized the four occupants of the vehicle. Among the victims was the wife of the Chairman of Kazage ward, Hajia Salamotu, two other women and the driver.
He said the families of the victims had not been able to establish contact with the abductors.
Meanwhile, four indigenes of Birnin Gwari, who are workers of Kaduna State Government, were kidnapped on Monday on the same road, with a ransom of N15million demanded for their release.
Efforts to get Police to confirm the incident were unsuccessful, as calls put across to the mobile phone number of the Police Public Relations Officer were not answered.
Birnin Gwari has become a hotbed for kidnappers, as they operate almost on a daily basis.
Last week, SaharaReporters reported the abduction of Alhaji Kabiru Abubakar, a village head of Kadi Community in Chikun Local Government in the state. His family members have been unable to raise the N10 million ransom demanded by the gunmen.
