The ambassador died on Friday, after being sick for a while.
Geoffrey Onyeama, Minister of Foreign Affairs, expressed shock over Wase's death, NAN reported.
In a statement by the spokesman of the ministry of foreign affairs, Dr Tope Elias-Fatile on Saturday, Onyema prayed that God would grant Wase’s family and the nation the fortitude to bear the loss.
Onyema said: "The Ambassador of Nigeria in Doha, Qatar, Amb. Abdullahi Bawa Wase died on September 14th.
"A non-career Ambassador, from Plateau State, he has been sick for a while until his death."
