Supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State have attacked the convoy of Governor Abdul’aziz Yari.

The governor’s convoy was attacked at Lalan Roundabout in Gusau on Sunday, while on the way to Kaduna.

According to NAN, seven governorship aspirants, including the deputy governor, Mallam Ibrahim Wakkala, were at a rally in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, and were receiving their supporters when they ran into the governor’s convoy.

The loyalists thereafter attacked the governor’s convoy, and destroyed the glasses.

However, policemen and security personnel intervened and fired shots into the air to disperse the crowd.

Meanwhile, a statement by Ibrahim Dosara, Special Adviser on Media and Public Enlightenment to the governor, cautioned his loyalists against violence.

“Any law-abiding citizen needs to respect the peaceful atmosphere concerning politics in Zamfara,” the statement read.
