Drama As Ambode Runs To Tinubu For Photos During Jim Ovia’s Book Launch

September 17, 2018

Tinubu was at the left corner of the stage while Ambode found himself on the far right. But while the dignitaries were posing for the photograph to be taken, Ambode, the host Governor, suddenly left the line of dignitaries on his side and dashed off to the other side to seek out Tinubu and stand next to him for shots.

The rift between Bola Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and his godson Akinwunmi Ambode, Governor of Lagos State, attracted a bit of attention on Monday during the launch of ‘Africa Arise And Shine’, a book written by Jim Ovia, founder of Zenith Bank, at Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos.

As the event was winding down to a close, the Master of Ceremonies invited the state governors present at the occasion and other dignitaries to the podium to take photos with a large copy of the book and the author.

Knowing the reason for his action, the whole hall erupted in laughter.

Although he has consistently denied it, Ambode’s relationship with Tinubu is strained, culminating in the latter’s decision to back Jide Sanwo-Olu for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket.

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has attempted to profit from the situation, first by wooing multibillionaire Femi Otedola, and latterly by flirting with Ambode himself.
