Two helicopters, 30 Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) and 300 patrol vehicles have also been deployed to maintain security during the election.
Ibrahim Idris, Inspector General of Police, has said 40,000 of its personnel have been deployed for the Osun State governorship election scheduled to hold on Saturday, September 22, 2018.
The personnel will be led by eight Commissioners of Police drawn from neighbouring states.

Jimoh Moshood, Police Spokesman, disclosed this in a press statement issued in Abuja on Sunday, and obtained by SaharaReporters.
Moshood revealed that the security formation for the Osun State election would be coordinated by the Deputy Inspector General of Police in Charge of Operations, Joshak Habila.
According to him, Habila will be assisted by an Assistant Inspector General of Police and eight Commissioners of Police.
He, however, noted that personnel already on ground for Saturday's election comprised the Police Mobile Force; Counter-Terrorism Unit; Special Protection Unit and the Police Anti-Bomb Squad.
Moshood added that the others included conventional policemen; the Armament Unit, Personnel of Federal Investigation and Intelligence Department, IGP Monitoring, IGP Intelligence Response teams, the sniffer dogs section and the Mounted Troops.
“Four unarmed policeman and two others from other security agencies will be on duty at each voting point throughout the state.
“The DIG, Department of Operation has been deployed in the state and already on ground.
"He will be assisted by an Assistant Inspector General of Police and eight Commissioners of Police and other senior officers.
"Each of the eight police area commands in Osun State will be manned by a Commissioner of Police,” the statement read.
He further revealed that Inspector General of Police will attend a stakeholders’ meeting and a peace accord meeting on Monday, in Osun.
The meeting, according to the Force Spokesman, is being organised with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman and forty-eight political parties that will participate in the election.
