Oshiomhole: Those Who Look Down On Me Because Of My Height Will Look Up When They See Buhari

September 18, 2018

After speaking for roughly 15minutes, Oshiomhole moved to introduce the President to the audience, saying: “It is my honour and very rare privilege to invite… You know in APC, we have everything: those who look down on me because of my height, when they see our President they look up. So, we have everything in the house — the long and short of the matter.”

Adams Oshimhole, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Tuesday made light remarks about his height in comparison with President Muhammadu Buhari’s, saying it’s an indication that the party “has everything — the long and short of the matter.”

Oshiomhole was speaking in Osogbo, capital of Osun State, during a mega rally of the ruling party ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

He described Buhari as “the People’s President” — “father with a difference, father not just by age but but by character, because there are some fathers without character.

He also described Gboyega Oyetola, the APC candidate in the election, as a man “whose passion for Osun State and for Nigeria is not in doubt”.

He added that having worked with Governor Rauf Aregbesola for so long, Oyetola would fit straight into the job instead of learning like the other candidates.

“Governance is not where you do apprenticeship; we want people who have prepared for the job from Day 1. There is no time for familiarization tour; there is no time to find out what the people need,” Oshiomhole said.

“In times like this, in particular, we need people of character, people of conviction, and my brother, my friend Oyetola is an embodiment of all of that. I am convinced that the workers of this state will not support any other person but Oyetola.”

He claimed that Aregbesola had made a huge progress in changing the topography and the face, not only of Osogbo but of the State of Osun.

Oshiomhole also mocked Prince Olagunsoye Oyinola, who was Governor of the state in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) days, saying: “The last time I was here when one Prince was a Governor, the Prince that has moved on to where he came from, I came to protest, it was so easy for me to block the roads because they were so narrow and full of potholes, so we could easily stop anyone we wanted to stop.”
