The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that there are 265,422 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) yet to be claimed by registered voters in Delta State.

Rose Orianran-Anthony, Delta State INEC Administrative Secretary, disclosed the figure during the electoral body’s consultative meeting with political parties in Asaba, the Delta State capital, on Thursday.

According to Orianran-Anthony, 135,897 PVCs were unclaimed in the 2014/2015 registration period, while 129,525 PVCs have not been collected from the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

She urged political parties to endeavour to mobilise people to get their PVCs, noting that INEC was not relenting on its part to make it easier for people to obtain their voter cards.

She also advised political parties to conduct peaceful and democratic primaries.
