The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is leaving nothing to chance in ensuring that Ademola Adeleke, its candidate in Saturday’s Osun State governorship election, wins the rerun scheduled for Thursday.

Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation, had said earlier on Monday that Iyiola Omisore, candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), had expressed his willingness to work with Adeleke to ensure victory at the rerun.

It has now emerged that Bukola Saraki, President of the Senate, also visited Omisore on Monday to enlist his support for Adeleke.

Speaking with journalists after the visit, Saraki expressed confidence that Adeleke would defeat isiaka Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday.[story_link align="left"]63252[/story_link]

Saraki subsequently tweeted about the visit, writing: “I thank Sen. Iyiola Omisore (@iyiomisore) for the warm reception he and his people gave me and members of my entourage in Ile-Ife today.

“We have agreed to work together because our goals are the same. We all want good governance in Osun State. Over the next 24 hours, we will work out the details. #OsunDecides2018.”

In Saraki’s entourage were Dr Doyin Okupe, Senator Abiodun Olujimi and other PDP leaders.

In Saturday’s election, Adeleke had polled254,699, while Oyetola had 254,345 votes. Omisore polled 128,049 votes to place a distant third, prompting insinuations that the PDP would have beaten APC hands down had he not left the party for SDP just four months ago.
