The Kogi State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress has directed workers in the state to comply with the national directive and embark on a strike with effect from September 27.

The state’s NLC, Trade Union Congress and the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council gave the order in a joint statement issued in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, on Wednesday.

The statement, signed by the chairmen of the labour groups: Onu Edoka, Ranti Ojo and Aaron Akeji, called on workers to remain at home within the stipulated period of the strike and await further directive.

According to the statement, the declaration of the strike is in line with the position of the national leadership of the unions to press home the demand for a new minimum wage.
