Addressing the crowd, Comrade Emeka Ekes, a member of the union, said: "We are here making our demands that nobody should force a worker with Air Peace to sell tickets. All those at the counter should stop selling tickets. Secondly, why we are here is for the good of everybody; the demand of everybody is that Nigerian workers should be paid. Once wage increases, it affects everybody.

"All the airlines have also been informed that they are members of the union. As we are here, this is our property. The people selling tickets, we are going to stop them, else we are going to block the roads. Organised labour has brought their position to the table. Federal Government, come with your own position and let us negotiate."

The NLC embarked on the strike after negotiations between the union and Federal Government hit a brickwall.
