BREAKING: Adeniyi Akintola, 'Last Man Standing', Withdraws From Oyo APC Gov Primary

Seven candidates were originally vying for the ticket, but, one by one, five of them withdrew from the primary election holding at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

Adeniyi Akintola (SAN), the only aspirant left in the race with Adebayo Adelabu for the Oyo State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket, has finally agreed to step down after "serious begging" from party leaders.

Seven candidates were originally vying for the ticket, but, one by one, five of them withdrew from the primary election holding at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

The five were Joseph Tegbe, Sola Ayandele, and Owolabi Babalola, who withdrew in one swoop after AbdulAzeez Adeduntan withdrew earlier on Sunday and Adebayo Alao-Akala did late on Saturday.

Akintola's withdrawal means the coast is now clear for Adelabu to be awarded the ticket as the sole candidate
