Senate Leader, Ahmad Lawan, yesterday said the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, was not impeached because “the good thing to do is to have all the requests of President Muhammadu Buhari approved.”

Expectations were that Saraki would be removed as the Senate President when the National Assembly resumed from recess last Tuesday.

Saraki had during the recess of the National Assembly dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the People’s Democratic Party(PDP).

Angered by his defection, the APC caucus and the national chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole threatened to remove Saraki as senate president. However on resumption last Tuesday, there was no impeachment move at the chamber.

Speaking to State House correspondents after a closed door meeting with President Buhari, he said national interest must override any other thing. He said the National Assembly would continue to remain focused on national issues for the benefit of the masses.
