The Director-General Brigadier-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Suleiman Kazaure, has advised corps members that will be deployed for 2019 general elections against stopping politicians from snatching materials.

Addressing corps members yesterday at the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Darkingari, Kebbi State, Kazaure advised:”If politicians want to snatch election materials from you, don’t drag issues with them. Help them carry it to their vehicle to avoid problems”.

He also warned corps members against bribe taking during the elections, saying “You are not covered by any immunity; anybody caught violating the Electoral Act is going to face the full wrath of the law”.

Kazaure, who was represented by a deputy director at the Evaluation Department of the  NYSC Headquarters, Mrs Victoria Ango, also told the corps members: “You are the future leaders. So, don’t lose your life for politicians.

He said the NYSC had assisted in the successful conduct of elections across the country; while the election security committee had ensured corps members’ safety.

He said the scheme had set up a security committee to come up with mechanisms to monitor corps members during elections.

He said: “INEC will also train corps members on how to discharge their electoral duties during the polls”.

NYSC State Coordinator Mr Usman Barde commended corps members for complying with camp rules and regulations.
