February 23, 2019

The card reader failed to read the thumbprints of the Governor and his wife.

Ibikunle Amosun, Governor of Ogun State, and his wife, Olufunke, resorted to voting manually at the polling unit in ward 6, Itagbangba in Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State.

According to updates from our correspondent at the polling unit, the card reader failed to read the thumbprints of the Governor and his wife.

The Governor, who was accompanied by his aide to the voting centre at about 11am, then moved to check his name on the voters register and proceeded to cast his vote manually.

There have been incidents of manual voting in some parts of the state.

At Ughiogwa ward 1, polling unit 3,  Etsako Central, Edo North, the Presiding Officers (PO) directed voters to confirm their names on the voters register and cast their votes manually, as the card readers in the unit failed to authenticate anyone.
