The INEC official, who simply identified himself as Hashim, said the card reader is "only reading errors".
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Sokoto State have complained that the card readers given to them have been failing and, as such, there will be delay in the voting process.
Between 8am and 9am when SaharaReporters visited several polling units in more than four different Local Government Areas, card readers were not working correctly, according to the INEC officials.
At Polling Unit 004, Mai Fada ward in Sokoto North, the INEC official, who simply identified himself as Hashim, said the card reader is "only reading errors", adding that he had complained to the necessary authority.
At ward 006 in Wammakko LGA, the card reader service was also fluctuating, and voters ready for accreditation was delayed.
