The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked the national leadership of the party to immediately expel Ibikunle Amosun, Governor of Ogun State, from the party.

The APC chapter stated this in reaction to the suspension of the outgoing governor by the APC National Working Committee (NWC) on Friday.

The APC NWC had suspended Amosun and his Imo State counterpart, Rochas Okorocha, as well as two others over anti-party activities.

In a statement signed by Tunde Oladunjoye, Publicity Secretary of Ogun APC Caretaker Committee, the state APC said Amosun’s suspension is long over due.

The statement read: “We received the NWC’s decision wholeheartedly and we say it is long overdue. Governor Amosun’s actions constitute a huge demonstration of ingratitude and party disloyalty. We are calling on the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party to go ahead and expel Governor Amosun from the party without further delay.

“This will teach him a lesson and serve as a deterrent to people who may want to follow his inglorious path.”

Amosun has publicly shown support for Adekunle Akinlade, Ogun governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
