Police, Shell confirm Kidnap of Staff Along Rivers Road

It was gathered that the incident happened on Thursday evening along the Ahoada-Ndele-Rumuji-Emohua axis of the East-West road, Rivers State.

The oil giant, Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC), has confirmed two of its staff were kidnapped.

Two police escorts attached to them were also killed.

It was gathered that the incident happened on Thursday evening along the Ahoada-Ndele-Rumuji-Emohua axis of the East-West road, Rivers State.

They were said to be returning from an official trip from the neighbouring Bayelsa state when they were waylaid by the kidnappers.[story_link align="left"]69241[/story_link]

A spokesman with who pleaded not to be mentioned said: “The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC) regrets to confirm the attack on its staff and government security escort at Rumuji, Rivers State, on the East/West road on Thursday, April 25, 2019 around 16:00hrs.

”We are supporting the police in their investigation of the incident. We cannot make further comments at this time.”

Meanwhile Rivers Police command said efforts had intensified to apprehend the perpetrators.

”Yes, confirmed and efforts are seriously on to rescue them,” said Nnamdi Omoni, spokesman of the Police in RIvers.
