Police Officer Who 'Killed' Kolade Johnson To Appear In Court Today

Olalekan appeared before Magistrate A.O. Salawu and the Magistrate ordered him to be remanded in prison for 30 days, pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions.

Olalekan Ogunyemi, the former police officer, who fired the shot that killed Kolade Johnson in Lagos, will appear before the Ebute Metta  Magistrate Court on Monday for the continuation of his trial.

Ogunyemi killed Johnson during a raid on a community in Lagos.

He was found guilty of acting in a manner prejudicial to indiscipline and unbecoming of members of the force by shooting and killing Kolade Johnson.

He was also found guilty of unlawful and unnecessary exercise of authority by using an AK47 rifle on the deceased in total neglect to the provisions of Force Order 237 on the use of firearms.

Olalekan appeared before Magistrate A.O. Salawu and the Magistrate ordered him to be remanded in prison for 30 days, pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions.

Magistrate Salawu had refused the bail plea of the defendant, saying he had an order by the Police to remand the defendant for the next 30 days.
