The Nigeria Police Force says a lot of arrests has been made to fish out the killers of Mrs. Funke Olakunrin, daughter of Pa Reuben Fasoranti, leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere.

Mrs. Olakunrin was killed on Friday by suspected herdsmen on her way to Akure on the Benin-Ore expressway.

Her death has generated controversies with leaders of socio-ethnic groups calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to put an end to the rising insecurity and daily killings in the country.

Meanwhile, the Onda State Police Command has claimed to have arrested a lot of people who might be connected to the death of Mrs. Olakunrin.

Mr. Femi Joseph, Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, said the command would intensify its search operation to ensure that the killers are arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.

“We have made a lot of arrests on this matter, but we are doing the screening of those arrested to know who among them are the culprits.

“By the time we finish the screening, we will let the world know the perpetrators,” Joseph said.

He stated that after proper investigations, those arrested would be paraded and charged to the court.

He, however, insisted that the police would not leave the forest and continue to search nearby villages until it is sure that all the killers have been arrested.
