After Downpour, Flood Overruns Ekiti Streets

A resident of the area, Idowu Adaramoye, said the bridge of the Ado-Ijan-Ikare Road, linking the capital city to a federal polytechnic in the state was overrun by the flood

A flood caused by a downpour on Wednesday is reported to have destroyed property worth millions of naira in Ado and Ikere Ekiti, Ekiti State.

Major streets were rendered impassable by the flood which hit such areas as Ureje area, along Polytechnic Road, Boom town, Eminrin and Ijelu villages, among others.

A resident of the area, Idowu Adaramoye, said the bridge of the Ado-Ijan-Ikare Road, linking the capital city to a federal polytechnic in the state was overrun by the flood, according to Daily Trust.

The chairman of Boom community, Mr. Oladimeji, said: “About four houses could have been destroyed but for communal efforts made to do a concrete on the same inner Ureje bridge that linked us with Oke Ila region.”
